YUINON CD PREVIEW: "The Next Level"

Headz ain’t ready, but we gon’ give it to ‘em anyway! The debut CD from the YUINON will be the long awaited soundtrack that will accompany the DVD re-edit of the Team Elohim’s documentary Next Level.

Compilations are extremely common these days and as an owner of many, I can say that I’ve been disappointed quite a few times. It’s not conceit but confidence in the Lord that enables me to say that I don’t think this project will be added to the list of disappointing compilations.

Our goal with this project was to put out a project that would expose those sleeping, encourage the believers, and convict and compel the lost to see their need for Christ. To accomplish that, these three things were necessary: sonic excellence through a well produced and mixed project, blazing rhymes from some of the hottest MCs spittin’ for Christ, and last, a cohesive, and diverse but relevant product that the unchurched could bump and feel.

Some names you’ll recognize are Corey Red and Precise, The Ambassador, Truth, and Zion/Cross Cypha. Others you will come to know: The Mad Prophets, Know Good, AON, Diallo, and Jack. This CD has mad diverse subject matter. A high-energy track called “Elevate” by EP, deals with complacency in the body. “Virtuous 31” by Quan of the Mad Prophets deals with relationships and what to look for in a mate. “Opened” by I Ron-Ic-Lee is on blaze! Whoa, wait til you hear the praise on this track!

Talk about mass appeal! “Spiritually Starved” by the Mad Prophets is a potential single and deals with man’s mindset. “Respect Due” by Zion/Cross Cypha is a very serious track that deals with cats who sleep on tha Most High. Closing the album is a track you gots to hear! It’s called “Repent” by Corey Red, Truth and Precise. The name saids it all! It’s going to be a classic collabo!

Wait until you hear the production! All the tracks showcase the signature style of producer Maji, east coast drums, heavy basslines, and unrecognizable samples with a west coast quality mix. It will be interesting to see how distributors, radio and consumers respond to this project. As far as quality goes, they will have to take frontin’ and hatin’ to the “next level.”

YUINON member “vessel” states, “We want to make it difficult for those who hear this project to go back to listening to songs about clothes, cars, women, and violence.”

Hip-hop is in need of a revolution, a change, but that will not happen until the hearts of the men and women doing it are pricked, cleaned and converted. This cd provides, beats, lyrics, hooks and songs to speed up that process. This Fall 2003, the revolution will begin. Welcome to The YUINON!
