In the relatively short history of the still emerging genre of hip-hop the way WE do it, very few albums could claim to be "very highly anticipated."

Corey Red and Precise are a testament to hip-hop's long lost art of underground, word of mouth, and interstate buzz created on skill alone. But skill alone is not what people think of when they hear these two cats from New York. Their skill is amplified by an anointing that causes their lyrics to penetrate.

“I never met God in church, wit a tie and a shirt, I met him in the New York streets, surrounded by creeps. So when I say Jesus loves me, I talk what I know, not just because the bible tells me so.”

– Corey Red / Jesus Saves

Without prior national distribution, but classic appearances on joints such as "Mark of The East", scrapped projects that never saw the light of day, and some unforgettable cameos and collabos, Mixtapes Vol I & II, the anticipation for their debut CD is almost palpable. Having toured extensively, using an anthology of compiled tracks to appease eager fans with money in hand, Corey and Precise are finally on the verge of releasing all new material, professionally mixed and mastered on their own, full-length debut.

So what can you expect? The Yuinion has the inside track, a sneak preview of what is said to become a classic CD. Our own Maji, had the privilege of producing two tracks. Their debut is the flagship project of Life Music. According to Maji, "…each track BUMPS and the overall project is rugged but with mass appeal. They hit all the issues that many are scared to address.”

“The population of the earth too swole, 2 billion got’s to go. Aids, war and cigarettes is birth control.” – Precise / No Greylines

Fans will be glad to know that frequently performed joints like "Bump in The Night" and "Scattered Sheep" DO make the album. There are several words that could be used to describe this project; apocalyptic, vivid and solid come to mind right away. Their transparent and unapologetic rhymes translate into an urgent, sober, head nodding, and thought provoking treatise on everything from the end times, to personal testimonies laced with metaphors bound to elicit bugged reactions from heads across the country. Maji says, "Resistance is Futile" is his personal favorite; it's the perfect track to close the album.

“Yo, now you can dress fly, go to the club, get shot in the eye. After you die, I guarantee Judgment Day will blow ya high.” Corey Red / Resistance Iz Futile

With all of the CDs they've blessed with guest appearances, you'd think they'd be eager to have some of their partners in rhyme return the favor, but when Maji asked Corey Red about this, Red laughed at first, but said, "seriously, we had too much to say, we couldn't spare a bar, maybe next time."

So, the national magazines and radio stations can sleep if they want to, but let the Yuinon be the first to give Corey Red and Precise much deserved props, our "stamp" of approval and "five crosses" for a job well done. It will be available Tuesday May 25, 2004. If you must purchase online, please visit the Bus Shop He reports Sound Scan, which is extremely important for this Christian Hip Hop to get noticed. So go out and support, it’s definitely worth the wait!
