Dying Without Purpose

© By Darrian Francel

Walking down Grand River
I notice the heading of a newspaper reading:

Student Commits Suicide

and I shook my head

wondering what led this young man to take his life.

Was it desperation for a wife

or loss in finding separation between his strife?

I don’t know.

Because he could not handle his life’s grief

he decided to make his life brief

making himself his own thief

because he isn’t the Giver of life.

It’s really a guarantee that he didn’t know his purpose

Which you can’t find using man made maps

or because you received man made claps

And he had a lot of accomplishments though

applause is not what births your cause.

As I look at the beautiful flowers

sitting on the living room table

there would be no life

no blossom

no vivid colors for them

if it wasn’t for the water drenching the roots

And God has to drench our roots

and our pursuits

so that our fruit

won’t display itself as a rotten apple.

I know if this guy would have

scheduled an appointment

with Christ the Anointed

he would have not been disappointed

in finding out that Jesus died that

he may live life in abundance

in contentment

And not in resentment of what he thought he was worth.

A future musician

Or physician

A father or husband

This guy’s purpose was tailor made

but he went and got the wrong suit.

He tried to make it fit.

He tried to make it work

But he ended his search

Without consulting the One

Who knew the reason behind his birth.

His purpose- the enemy succeeded to hide

That’s why this young man committed suicide

The devil lied because there’s no truth in him

But the Truth is alive

And well

And He’s broken the spell

And He tells

That everybody has a purpose from God.

So stop by His office

Oops. I almost forgot.

There’s only one way in

Jesus Christ

You have to believe in Him

You have to receive Him

Then you can enter the office

No once a week visits.

You must abide there

Like the roots of the flowers in the water.

Live in God.

Stay in your purpose so that you won’t

Die without it.
